Children are Gift from God

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

what we gather from the Word of God is that children are important in God’s eyes. We have to understand that our children are an incredible gift from God, which are really only on loan to us. God says here you go, now raise them in my ways, bring up Godly men and women of God. Wow! We have an awesome responsibility to God and our children. Because he gives them to us with the understanding that we are going to do everything we can to raise them like his word says to. One day we will stand before him and be accountable for what we have done, with and for our children.

We need to ask ourselves some hard questions. Am I doing enough? Am I showing God to them in real away, clearly enough? Am I doing something that maybe I shouldn’t be doing? We all may have those same thoughts and questions. Each and everyone of us have at some time contemplated the exact same things. Sure we have been given an awesome responsibility. But we don’t have to do it alone. We see God in his infinite wisdom and understanding, instituted the church. And with that comes the churches responsibility to help train the children that God has given it.

We have an awesome responsibility to every child that walks through our doors. We all would have heard the statistics that says, 80% of all who get saved do so before the age of 18. But do we believe that? Do we truly believe in the importance of ministry to our children?

There are few things we can do in the area of ministering to our children. Firstly, Pray for them. Pray that they may walk in obedient with God’s Word and walk in Godly ways. Pray that they would find right friends at different stages of their lives. Pray that they will have right people to guide them in their spiritual journey. Pray that God would keep them away from evil one and they would be a shining star to others.

Secondly, we need to set godly example to our children. Practice what we read in the scripture. They are hungry ears and eyes that are listening and watching to what we say and how we act and react.

Our children are precious. We have to understand that we have been a window of opportunity to affect and influence them. We cannot afford to not let them have every chance to know Jesus and be presented with the gospel.

Question to Ponder:

Am I being a channel that connect my children to God?

Wish you a very happy Christmas and this season of Christmas you would commit to take time to lead your children in Godly ways!
